  • Unsalted Butter                    1/2 cup
  • Ground Cloves                     1/4 tsp
  • Cream Cheese                       3 packs
  • Granulated Sugar                  1 cup
  • Vanilla Extract                      1 tsp
  • Eggs                                      3 large
  • Canned Pumpkin Puree        1 cup
  • Ground Nutmeg                    1/2 tsp
  • Ground Cinnamon                1 tsp
  • Whipped cream                   (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch (23cm) springform pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and melted butter until the crumbs are evenly coated. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared springform pan to form the crust.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add 1 cup granulated sugar and vanilla extract to the cream cheese, and continue to beat until well combined.
  5. Beat in the pumpkin puree, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and ground cloves until the mixture is well mixed.
  6. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, making sure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  7. Pour the pumpkin cheesecake batter over the graham cracker crust in the springform pan.
  8. Smooth out the top of the batter with a spatula to ensure an even surface.
  9. Bake the cheesecake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center still has a slight jiggle.
  10. Turn off the oven and leave the cheesecake inside with the oven door slightly ajar for about an hour to prevent cracking.
  11. Remove the cheesecake from the oven and let it cool completely at room temperature.
  12. Once cooled, refrigerate the cheesecake for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to set.
  13. Before serving, you can garnish the pumpkin cheesecake with whipped cream, if desired.

Slice it,
Enjoy it.

Now here are the answers to some of your most-asked questions.

What is plain cheesecake called?

Plain cheesecake is typically referred to as "New York-style cheesecake." It is a classic and simple version of cheesecake, made with cream cheese, sugar, eggs, and vanilla, baked on a graham cracker crust. New York-style cheesecake is known for its dense and creamy texture, with a slightly tangy flavor from the cream cheese. It's often served on its own or with various toppings like fruit compotes, chocolate sauce, or whipped cream. The name "New York style" is associated with its origin, as it became popular in New York City and is now a beloved dessert enjoyed worldwide.

Which cheesecake is best?

The best cheesecake is subjective and depends on individual preferences. There are various types of cheesecakes with different flavors and textures, and what one person considers the best might not be the same for another.

Some popular cheesecake varieties include:
1. New York-style cheesecake: Classic, dense, and creamy with a graham cracker crust.
2. Oreo cheesecake: Features crushed Oreo cookies in the crust and sometimes mixed into the filling for a delicious chocolatey twist.
3. Pumpkin cheesecake: Infused with pumpkin puree and warm spices, perfect for the fall season.
4. No-bake cheesecake: Light and fluffy, with no baking required, making it quick and easy to prepare.
5. Chocolate cheesecake: Intensely chocolaty with cocoa or melted chocolate incorporated into the filling.

Chef's Remarks: Ultimately, the best cheesecake is the one that satisfies your taste buds and suits your preferences. Some people prefer a classic New York-style cheesecake for its rich and creamy texture, while others might love the combination of flavors in a specialty cheesecake like Oreo or pumpkin. Experimenting with different cheesecake recipes can help you discover your personal favorite.
